Let's talk about input. What's your setup when it comes to recording? What amp, preamp, audio card, microphone, cable, guitar... do you use?
The main part in my chain is my Line 6 UX2. It's a USB audio card but it comes with awesome simulation software which is easy to use. I plug in, plug my guitar into it and I'm ready to record.
For vocals I use(d) (since I don't have this equipment here in Japan) a Scarlett 2i4 with a NT1-A condenser mic.
This all goes straight into REAPER my DAW. No studio wizardry on my input chain.

GUITARS:For guitars recording I use only my audio interface (Komplete Audio 6) and the guitar itself (Yamaha Artcore AF75) [Bass is a shitty Peavey, but who cares]. Rest is done by nice guitar processor "Helix" from Line 6. VOCALS():For now, I am not recording any vocals in my songs, but I own old good russian Oktava MK-220. Someday its time will come DRUMS:Alesis DM10 drumkit + Superior Drummer 3 combo MIDI KEYBOARD:Recently I bought a new AKAI MPK 261. Awesome keyboard in comparison with the old M-AUDIO KEYSTATION 49 (rest in peace ol fren) Mixing, mastering in Reaper also with some VST plugins (gonna write a complete post about my mixing process, someday)

So, a friend of mine just lent me his Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD.
Since my amp (or rather my cables) are shit, I just plug it in via DI, and use Kuassa's Amplikation Lite. The bass I use is my trusty SX bass. It's not the most amazing sounding thing, but it gets the job done.
