Recently i did a attempt at a pop punk song and sent it to newgrounds, it sounds like shit, the instruments are barely distinguishable. So, i made this thread so ppl could do a better job than me and teach me how to properly do mixing work, so yeah tell me the process you went through while mixing this. Heres the stems drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CCCkhOQobZaVjO_2tQX8NDPFtV-gzwUj?usp=sharingIt has both the drums WAV with a drum VST sound and a drum midi file if you want to use your own drum VST, the midi file has both the drum midi lines and guitar midi lines because i wrote both of them on guitar pro, just use the drum midi.

Awesome! Downloading and I'll have a mess around with it tonight or within the next few days! More of these challenges, people! Please upload stems for others to play around with!
Thanks for sharing, nothingface!

Yeah!!!! That's way better! Nice work! So was there anything you wanted me to clarify? Also, would you be happy if I used your track in a video showing what I did? I don't know if I will for sure but I'm considering making a video tutorial.
Try to apply this to the next track and then we can take that one up to the next level with compression on the drums and other FX on the guitar and bass.

I need some clarification on the types of EQ, high pass, low pass, band, etc, what they do and which ones to use and where. I kinda understood what some of them do but i'd like a deeper explanation. And yes, i'd rly like if you used the song on a tutorial!

High pass: Everything above this frequency is allowed to PASS through. Low pass: Everything below this frequency is allowed to PASS through. Use high pass filters to get rid of all the lower frequencies for example the low 'rumble' sound in a guitar recording. Use low pass filters to get rid of any high pitch noises you don't need like 'hiss' and 'sizzle'.
These two filters are used to tidy up sounds so that they don't interfere with each other. For example, anything below, say, 250hz in a guitar recording is not musical at all, just a big messy, muffled boom. Get rid of it entirely so the bass and kick drum can use this space instead without fighting the guitar.
Don't worry about band pass for now. You probably won't need one for rock music.
