My name is MercyfulDeath, I am an expert on anything and everything 80's metal, forging, digging up, and discussing this forgotten metal of the far off age of absolute pure heavy metal that was the 1980's is my passion and my calling in life.
Okay haha, overtly pompous introduction aside, I'm a pro at 80's metal, and I try my damndest to emulate and perfect the styles of that period. I'm a mostly self taught guitar and bass player. My primary influences in guitar are Iron Maiden, Manilla Road, Judas Priest, early Metallica, and most of 80's speed and traditional heavy metal. For bass it's a bit easier to pin down, my primary influences there are Steve Harris first and foremost, Lemmy, and Cronos from Venom. Any questions or trivia on 80's metal is welcome and I will gladly provide answers and discussion.
I am also eager to learn from all of you as well. I'm not the best guitarist ever, I'm quite sloppy, and trills (fast hammer ons and pull offs) are some of my greatest enemies and hurdles in my guitar playing. That said I'm also not very good at producing, years of listening to loud music, and of course, playing loud (because how else would you play metal if not on 11?) has damaged my hearing and I find it a little hard to discern certain frequencies in the mix. Not to mention I'm not exactly very good at mastering and such, but I guess that's why we're here then!
